Did you know that over 3.5 million people visit Yellowstone National Park every year? The national park has decided to “go green” and turn the plastic bottles that visitors discard at the park into artificial turf. As part of Yellowstone’s new initiative, discarded plastic bottles which used to be shipped overseas for recycling will now be sold to Universal Textile Technologies, a manufacturer of eco-friendly backing material for artificial turf. Though many hikers do bring re-usable bottles, many people still bring plastic bottles and the park is doing something to help.
